Thanks for stopping by

Hi, I’m AJ. Originally from Wolverhampton, I work primarily in oil paints from my flat in London. I came to painting somewhat unexpectedly. After developing my style at school, making art slowly dozed off into a hobby at university, as my studies in Social Anthropology captured most of my attention. After leaving, and with stints in office jobs and travelling, I came back to painting as a way of investigating my relationship with myself.

These days, my practice still centres themes of identity and indulging in my own feelings too often. I’m influenced by things that look nice (foggy windows, textiles and sunsets) a couple of the isms (expressionism and aestheticism) as well as things that look not-so-nice (the colours of the floor on the Tube, loneliness and computer glitches).

So take a look around - I’m happy you’re here :)
