let me paint for you

I always love painting a new face. Have a read below of how my commissioning process usually works.

It all starts with a hello, and a picture.

Most of the time I paint from a photograph. I like being able to study every nook and curve, seeing what colours and tones I can pull out. It’s usually nice to have a few photos as options of what to paint, but of course it’s not essential.

Once we have decided on the subject, style and size of the painting together, I’ll then ask for 40% of the total price upfront as a deposit. This is to cover costs of materials and also acts as our contract of sorts. After I’ve received the deposit, I get to work. First I’ll sketch out the shapes and proportions and then I’ll add paint. I’ll send you updates throughout, taking on board any comments.

Once we’re both happy with the end result, the painting will dry for a week or two before being lightly glazed. During this time, I’ll ask for the remaining 60% and postage and packaging costs. Once received, I’ll send your commission tracked and signed for.
